Moving Disaster

After losing my pleco about a month ago, I decided to go to only one freshwater aquarium. So I began the process of moving my fish over to my 30 gallon tank. I guess I rushed the process because I ended up losing all but one of my freshwater fish in a matter of 24 hours. It was a very sad day.

Guppy Tank

My guppy tank was a complete failure. I lost every one of the guppies within a month. I'm not sure what I did wrong. I may try another tank sometime in the future once I figure out where I might have made my mistake with their tank setup.

New Additions

Added a few new additions to my tanks today. A Royal Gramma and a Yellow Tail Damsel went into my 55 gallon saltwater tanks. Four Gold WhiteCloud Tetras went into my 20 gallon tetra tank. (Photos of these three are below; taken before release) Plus I started a small fancy guppy tank.

U-Tube Problems

I continue to have problems keeping air out of the U-Tube in my overflow box. I finally discovered a way to get it going again without sucking the air out with my mouth. *yuck* I put the entire tube into the tank and moved it around to fill it with water yet get rid of any air bubbles. Then I filled two paper cups with tank water and put them over the ends of the tube so that I could lift it out of the water without losing suction. Keeping the cups on the ends, I put the tube back in the overflow box and carefully removed the cups. It seemed to work great and the water was really flowing again. Unfortunately, this only lasted for about three days before there was air in the tube again.

Update

All fish survived the December power outage and have made it through the winter. I'm looking forward to adding to my tanks this spring/summer.

Power Outage

Ohio was hit with quite a snow and ice storm through the night. At 6:00 AM my entire town lost power. I scrambled to do what I could to save my fish as the temperatures quickly plummeted. I turned off the filters, used blankets to try to keep as much heat in my tanks as possible, and placed my battery operated air pump in my marine tank. About six hours later the electricity came back on. My tanks are still heating up to try to return to their original temperature. Only time will tell if my fish will suffer as a result of this storm.
