Glider Update

Received word from the breeder today:

Hi Peggy,
I was just emailing to give you an update on the little ladies. they are doing very well.. being active and running around all the time. one of the girls loves to play on this huge peice of wood i have in their room, the other loves to ride on her older brothers back. I was actually wondering if you were interested in taking the older male with the girls. I am getting him neutered this thursday. I really want him to go to a home where i know he would be well taken care of and not to mention this is the boy that your little girl loves to play with. i also think it would help the girls transition to have an older glider with them. think about it =)
i'll take pictures of the kids again in the next few days and send them to you!
Sara

So I'm now considering whether I want to take in a third glider or not.

Sad Memorial Day Weekend

It was not a good Memorial Day weekend at my house. I had three fatalities. I lost Speedy, my wonderful little dwarf hamster that had spent most of the year with me at school, Calleigh, another dwarf hamster, and Billy's red ear slider, Snapper. The turtle had been sick and I had talked Billy into letting it stay with me.

I had made up my mind that I was going to finish my K&D Exotic cage today if it killed me. I no sooner started working on it when one of the handles on my pen ring pliers snapped right off. I went off shopping to try to find a new pair but no place around here seems to sell them. So now I have no way of finishing the cage. **crying hysterically**

Putting Together Cage

AARRRGHH! I'm about ready to throw my new K&D Exotics cage out the window. I would never recommend this cage to anyone. It has been the most difficult thing to put together. I've spent day after day working on it trying to get the little wire rings around the cage panels while holding them in place. I need about two more hands just to get this things together. Not to mention the directions that I was sent were messed up on one step. They failed to mention that you needed to add the shelf ramps before connecting all the panels. Now I have no way of taking what I've already done apart to put the ramps inside.

Worse yet, I'm working on the cage in my living room since it was the largest area in the house that I had to work. While trying to manuever the cage around to work on it, I managed to bust my hexagon aquarium and scratch my TV. So I spent the next hour moving fish, draining water, and cleaning up a big mess.

K&D Exotics Cage

My Sugar Glider cage arrived in the mail today. When I opened it up I was disappointed with the way it looked. It is made out of a metallic material that has the feel of a hard plastic. It doesn't appear to be anywhere near as strong as the Quality Cage that I purchased for my chinchillas several months ago. Plus for some reason it is giving off a very strong odor which I hope will go away soon. It looks like it is going to take some time to put together. Maybe I'll change my mind about it once it is all together.
