can i watch movies on TV from my western digital 320gb external hard drive on a dvd recorder with a USB port?
planning to buy a dvd recorder with a USB port today. will i be able to watch movies stored on my external hard drive on my sony TV if i connect the hard drive to the dvd recorder via USB?
I didn't realize that was possible.....I love the idea, though.
What's the model number of the DVD Recorder?
Tom
Added Later: Check the Pioneer DVR-640H-S DVD Recorder with HDD. It has USB so you can connect an external device for watching photo slideshows and (I believe) music, but saw no indication of a capability to show video files.

Canon PIXMA iP3500
Designed for home or business users with low-volume printing needs, the Canon Pixma iP3500 is a low-cost printer that delivers above average print quality. Advanced print head technology drives this machine's high performance, creating borderless photo images with resolution up to 4800 x 1200 dpi (dots per inch). For added convenience, you can print photographs directly from your DV camcorders, digital cameras, and even camera phones. Plus, the twin paper trays allow you to store both plain paper and photo paper, so you're always print-ready.
You'll certainly be pleased with its print speeds, but keep in mind that it doesn't offer much beyond the basics, such as networking options or memory card slots. The Canon iP3500 uses a four-ink system with individual cartridges, which of course is a huge plus because it reduces ink waste. Compared to other inexpensive inkjet printers, this one wins the prize in terms of sharpness and legibility. The color graphics output also renders precise detail, pleasing saturation, and exceptional image quality.
