I need help with upgrading the "big 3" for my audio system?
I have a 1998 Jeep grand cherokee with an 90 amp alternator. I am going to be replacing it with a 120 amp alternator in the future once I save some money.
When I go to change my big 3, what size battery / alternator, alternator / chassis, and ground strap am I going to need to get to make a difference?
Honestly, if you're going to upgrade you're alt, 30A difference will not be noticeable, especially at idle where you'll only gain like 1-3A more in charge so it will be a waste. If I were you, I'd go talk to extreme amperage or Iraggi to get a nice 200A alt or more.
Big 3 consist of:
Upgrading your stock batt to ground wire
Upgrading Engine Chassis to Frame Ground
Upgrading Alternator (pos) with a fuse, and the runing it to Batt (pos)
Using 0 guage works best, and the materials can be had for about 40-50 bucks depending on how long the wire needs to be. Match the fuse with your alternator power. The ANL fuse blocks are pretty cheap on ebay from busboy. Check out knukonceptz for good cheap wire.
