Digital Telephones
How does Digital Telephone service work ?
Digital phone service is basically talking through your computer lines. You hook up a device to your computer, just like you would hook up a wireless router, and you're set. You should know that you do not use the standard phone outlets in your house, so if you want more than one phone, you have to buy a system with multiple handsets. You should also know that if your cable or power goes out, you don't have a phone, unlike land lines. It really doesn't matter if you have a cell phone. It is much cheaper because there are no long distant charges.

Before going into the subject of electronic components and semiconductors , we must first of all know the meaning of electronics. By electronics we mean the study and use of electrical devices that are operated by controlling the flow of electrons or other electrically charged particles in devices such as thermionic valves and semiconductors.
An electron is one of the most important types of subatomic particles. Electrons combine with protons and (usually) neutrons to make atoms. Electrons are much smaller than neutrons and protons. The mass of a single neutron or proton is more than 1,800 times greater than the mass of an electron.
Coming back to the definition of electronic component we should know that it is the basic electronic element which is usually packed in a discrete form with two or more connecting leads or metallic pads. The components are connected together by soldering them to a printed circuit board in order to create an electronic circuit for a particular use or function, such as a radio or transistor receiver, amplifier or an oscillator. The components are either packaged singly such as the resistor, transistor, diode or capacitor or it may also be packaged in more complex groups such as the integrated circuits used for operational purposes. These electronic components are often enclosed in synthetic resin to protect them from the influences of the weather and environment.
There are two types of components, namely the Passive component or the Active component.
Passive components are those components which do not require power being applied to them in order to work. While an Active component requires power to operate. For example a transformer is an active component because it requires power to operate while examples of the passive component are the resistor and capacitor.
By semiconductors we mean those materials that have an electrical resistivity between a conductor and an insulator. An external electrical flow would be required to change the semiconductors resistance. The semiconductor is the foundation of the modern electronic devices and appliances such as the computers, telephones and other appliances such as the transistor, solar cells, many kinds of diodes including the light-emitting diode, the silicon controlled rectifier, and digital and analog integrated circuits. It also includes the solar photovoltaic panels which are large semiconductor devices that directly convert light energy into electrical energy.
Semiconductors for commercial use are created by silicon and other materials such as the germanium, gallium arsenide, and silicon carbide. The overall performance of the semiconductor material used to produce semiconductors can be drastically changed by adding other elements, called "impurities" to the melted original material and then allowing the liquefied solution to solidify into a new and different crystal. Such process of changing the materials is known as "Doping".
Semiconductors play a major role in our modern technology and have also a monumental impact on our society. Today anything that has been computerized or uses radio waves depends on semiconductors. We can find semiconductors in the heart of microprocessor chips as well as transistors. Get your electronic components and semiconductors here!
